The actor confirmed this in a video Shared on his Twitter page.
Alongside a video, he wrote: "This morning I tested positive for Covid 19. I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus.
"Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I'm doing. No panic."
He said he got tested on Friday after coming in contact with someone who tested positive.
The wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tested positive for the coronavirus after she spoke at a huge event at London's SSE Arena, Wembley, which Elba attended.
